Accounts & profiles
Signing up
You can create an account via:
- Email + password — uses a verification email to activate.
- Google — single click; the Google email becomes your contact email.
- Apple — same flow as Google with Apple's private relay supported.
All three flows are handled at https://id.zeeker.com and return you to wherever you started (zeeker.com, the admin center, or a third-party site running the embed widget).
Zeeker warms the secure connection to Zeeker ID while the Social app loads. When you open sign-in, the sign-in panel shows a Zeeker ID loader until the embedded authentication surface reports that it is interactive. Versioned ID assets are cached by the browser; credentials and authenticated responses are not stored in the Social app's content cache.
Password recovery
Choose Forgot Password? from email or phone password sign-in. Zeeker sends a six-digit reset code to that account identifier, verifies the code, and then lets you choose a new password. Returning to the identifier step or using Backspace clears entered code digits so a different code can be entered safely. A reset code expires after five minutes and is consumed when the password changes.
Usernames
- Each account picks a unique username at signup (
@yourname). - Usernames are case-insensitive but display preserves casing.
- Usernames can be changed once every 30 days from Settings → Account.
- A reserved-words list prevents impersonation of system accounts (
zeeker,admin,support, etc.).
Display profile
Your profile page (zeeker.com/u/<username>) contains:
- Avatar + cover image
- Display name + bio (280 chars)
- Pronouns (optional, free-form)
- Location (optional)
- Personal links (up to 4 URLs)
- Joined date
- Tabs: Posts · Replies · Media · Likes · Communities · Saves (saves visible only to you)
Avatars and covers are uploaded to S3 and served via CloudFront. They're automatically square-cropped (avatar) or aspect-fit (cover).

Following
- Tap Follow on a profile, a Who to Follow suggestion, or its profile preview to receive that person's posts in your home feed.
- For public accounts, Zeeker shows Following only after the follow is confirmed and keeps the suggestion, preview, and destination profile in sync.
- Private accounts require approval. Their button shows Requested until the account owner approves or you cancel the request.
- When someone has requested to follow you, their profile shows Requested to follow you with Approve and Decline actions. Your own Follow button remains separate because following is one-way.
- Following is one-way; private-account approval does not make the other person follow you back.
- The follow count is private to follower / followee — others see only totals.
- Followers, following, follow requests, reactions, posts, and replies load in bounded server-ordered pages; additional results follow an opaque continuation instead of replaying or sorting the complete account history.
Blocking & muting
- Block: hides their account from you and yours from them; removes both follow directions and pending follow requests, and prevents either account from recreating those relationships while the block remains active.
- Mute user: keeps you both connected but removes their posts from your feeds.
- Mute keyword: hide posts whose text matches a substring; useful for spoilers and topics you're avoiding.
Deactivation vs deletion
- Deactivate hides your profile, posts and reactions; reversible by signing in within 30 days.
- Delete is permanent after a 7-day grace period during which you can still sign in to undo. Deletion redacts your content (
[deleted]placeholders) but does not remove descendant replies from other people.
Data export
Request a JSON archive of your posts, replies, reactions, saves and DMs from Settings → Account → Export your data. Delivered to your email as a signed download link, valid for 24 hours.
Profile reads use an account-safe request window and a successful profile edit is reflected immediately on the profile page. Account writes such as profile edits, blocks, and password changes are submitted once and are not replayed automatically after a timeout.
