Members & roles
The Members tab is where you manage who's in your community and what they can do.
Roles
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything. Can transfer ownership and delete the community. One owner per community. |
| Admin | Edit settings, manage members (except the owner), manage moderators, manage embed configs, manage SSO, review analytics, all moderator actions. |
| Moderator | Open the moderation queue, remove posts, ban members, lock threads, slow-mode threads. No settings access. |
| Member | Standard membership: post, reply, react, save. |
Roles are hierarchical — an admin can do everything a moderator can, etc.
Tabs
- All members — searchable directory of every member with their role, join date, and basic activity stats.
- Admins & moderators — filtered view of staff.
- Pending — teammate or membership invitations awaiting response.
- Banned — members under a ban, with reasons and expiry dates.
Inviting
Click + Invite to invite by:
- Username — instant; the target gets a notification.
- Email — sends an invite email; they sign up if they don't have an account.
- Invite link — generates a one-off URL (single-use or N-use; configurable expiry).
When inviting, pick the role to grant on accept (member / moderator / admin).
Managing teammates
Use Teammates to invite staff by email address or Zeeker handle and assign Moderator, Admin, or Super Admin within your own role limits. Pending invitations can be resent or cancelled. Existing teammates can be promoted, demoted, or removed by an operator with a higher role.
Existing Zeeker users receive the same invitation details as email-only invitees: the community's display name and the exact assigned role. Invitations to different communities are deduplicated independently.
Removing a member
Three escalation levels:
- Mute in this community — they can still browse but can't post or react.
- Ban — they're removed from the member list. They can't see community-only posts; public posts are still visible. Bans can be temporary (1 day – 1 year) or permanent.
- Block & report — bans them and files a platform-level report.
Bans are logged in the modlog with actor, target, reason, and expiry.
Promoting / demoting
From any member's overflow menu:
- Promote to moderator / admin
- Demote back to member
Owners can promote / demote anyone. Admins can promote / demote up to admin (not owner). Moderators can't change roles.
Transferring ownership
Settings → Danger zone → Transfer ownership. Pick an existing admin to receive ownership. The action requires:
- The current owner to confirm by typing the community slug.
- 2FA verification (always — independent of whether your account requires 2FA otherwise).
The previous owner is automatically downgraded to admin.
Member directory privacy
The Members tab is visible to:
- All members of public communities.
- Only members of private communities.
Non-members never see the directory, regardless of access mode.
Email addresses are not shown for registered members in member lists, teammate lists, or platform user rows. Pending teammate invite rows show the destination email to authorized community staff so invitations can be identified, resent, or cancelled correctly.
Member rows show basic activity counts such as posts, replies, and reactions so admins can understand participation without relying on private contact fields.
Bulk actions (admins only)
Select multiple members in the directory and:
- Bulk DM — pre-fills the chat composer with the recipients selected.
- Bulk role change — promote / demote in one action.
- Bulk export — CSV of member id, username, role, joined date, and available activity stats.
